Vegetable garden plans are essential to have a successful vegetable garden. Planning is being able to answer the following questions:

1. Where will I plant my garden? Will you be gardening in your yard, gardening in vegetable containers, or gardening hydroponically, to name a few?

2. What are the best vegetables to grow in my garden given my climate, the size of my garden, the type of soil and what I like to eat?

3. Where do plants thrive best in a garden?...in the shade or in the sun, near or far?

4. Is there a better kind of seed? How long does this seed take to germinate? Length of growing season?

5. How do I maintain my domestic vegetable garden? How much fertilizer and water does it need? How do I keep insects and rodents away from my garden?

6. Do different plants require different care? How do I dress the vegetables once I have harvested them? How long are they good after harvest?

If you are a beginner gardener, having well thought out garden plans will make or break your results. Nothing is more frustrating than spending hours and dollars of resources on your garden only to find that it has failed. You must, at least to some extent, answer the scored questions. You will make mistakes and some plants will not give the expected results.

To minimize this, however, there are plenty of resources to gather information on vegetable garden plans for your home vegetable garden. Of course there is the internet, however, I would also highly recommend a good garden reference manual or your local greenhouse owner. Everyone I have worked with has always graciously helped me with my garden project. They do this so they can entice you as a long-term customer. This has definitely worked with me as I have a few greenhouses in my area that I frequent often.

Again, to ensure you have an optimal vegetable, well thought out and executed vegetable garden plans are a must! I hope this gives you a good start with your new garden. Good luck with your gardening plans and may your vegetable garden be bountiful!
